We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights; that among these are Life, Liberty and Property, which is a primary means to pursue Happiness; that to secure these rights, governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the Governed; that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

Prudence dictates that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes and, accordingly, all experience has shown that mankind is more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed; however, when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object of liberty’s destruction evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is the people’s right, it is their duty, to throw off such government and provide new guards for their future security.

Our Statement of Purpose

Overburdened by excessive and unjust taxation, the legislative voices we in Jefferson hear are no longer recognizable. As sovereign citizens, our wishes have all too often been either overridden or completely ignored by legislative bodies. Executive branches (Governors) typically avoid visiting our areas to witness first-hand the economic plight of their disregard, reflecting a lack of concern for our well-being as citizens.

 

 

 Distinctions

Sovereignty: Citizens of Jefferson reserve all rights to sovereignty, liberty, and independence along with every power, jurisdiction, and privilege not delegated to the Federal government by the U.S. Constitution.

Power: By the authority of the 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, defense-weapon awareness would be available for all “citizen soldiers,” and its Governor would be the Commander of Citizen Soldiers during declared emergencies. With control over Jefferson’s borders highly prioritized, conceal-carry permits would eventually be phased out for Jefferson citizens, so the right to bear arms in Jefferson would not be infringed.

Authority: Each Jefferson citizen would have no more than one vote, which would be cast at a polling location for hand-counting purposes only with mailed ballots only allowed for out-of-state residents. Since electronic voting significantly increases the possibility of election fraud, e-voting and e-tabulation would not be permitted, and Election Day would be a state sanctioned day-off with pay (holiday).

Reciprocity: Full faith and credit shall be given to all common states for access of records, acts, and judicial proceedings of courts and magistrates in other states. Jefferson citizens would claim all rights and privileges shared by those common states. For the convenient management of Jefferson’s interests, elected officials would serve in a traditional capacity, pursuant to its developed constitution. According to the mandates of Federal election laws, Jefferson would have two U.S. Senators and at least one U. S. Representative.

Equity: Elections would be fair and balanced. There would be only a nominal fee for candidate profiles to be published in Voter Pamphlets, and all candidates would be invited to participate in radio/newspaper/televised debates. Only voters would decide who is best fit to serve in our state’s elected offices. The state’s Election Division would operate independently and separately from all other governmental offices. The office of Director of Elections would be an elected position, not appointed. State election laws would be restructured to meet compliance standards of the U.S. Constitution.

Undenominated barter currency: Citizens of Jefferson would be encouraged to barter through mutual negotiation, possibly reaching mutual agreement.

Sturdy fences make good neighbors: Aiding and abetting illegal aliens is a federal offense per USC Section 8 § 1324(a).  This law has a 6-year statute of limitation, which typically means companies in violation of this law would face up to 6 years of prosecution. Any financial or political support for illegal aliens, their groups, organizations, candidates, and/or activists that support illegal immigration and the hiring of illegal aliens, the products and/or services of said companies and stock holdings of same would be rendered undesirable.

Anti-Fugitive Sanctuary: Any person found to be charged with treason, felony, or another high crime from another state, she/he would – upon demand of the Governor or executive power from the sourcing state – be promptly returned to said state.
